Recently, Mingke technical service engineers went to the plant site of our customer in wood-based panel industry, to repair the steel belt by shot peening.
In the production process, parts of the steel belt can be deformed or damaged in long and continuous operation, which causes bad effects on the normal manufacturing process. As for this situation, after comprehensive evaluation for the use condition of the steel belt, costs of repair or purchasing a new one etc., belt users can choose the steel belt repair service, intended to extend the lifespan and make the best use of its residual value.
Shot peening is one way of surface strengthening technology, and works by striking the steel belt surface evenly and intensely with a group of shots (high-speed blasting steel balls), to improve its surface mental microstructure, increase surface hardness and prolong its fatigue life, which are the goals can be achieved by shot peening. Furthermore, this technology can also be used to increase wear and fatigue properties and remove residual stresses remained in steel belts.
There are many advantages by using shot peening. Firstly, by this way, it ensures that the shooting speed of steel balls will be consistent with its striking strength in this process, resulting in more even and consistent surface treatment. Secondly, strong impacts from shot peening can help get the same results as grinding has. What’s more, this method is high-efficient and environmental, to reduce environmental impacts. For this reason, it’s been quite widely applied to steel belt and other industries.
